Job title: Aircraft Technician Support Center - Aircraft Life Support Equipment
Work Location: Ottawa (YOW)

Reports to: Manager Aircraft Life Support Equipment


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform inspections on Aircraft Life Support Equipment (ALSE) for Department of National Defence (DND) and Top Aces aircrews as per established procedures;
  • Carry out periodic inspections on various survival equipment used by Top Aces;
  • Maintain the inventory;
  • Maintain the Ottawa the shop tools and test equipment per  standards;
  • Ensure all bases and pack ups are equipped with adequate spares for day to day Ops;
  • Submit to a monthly report on DND ALSE inspection carried out in the past month;
  • Order the required equipment for new personnel;
  • Perform repairs on the equipment, as detailed in established procedures;
  • Participate in deployments from time to time;
  • Maintain the Support Centre in a clean and tidy condition;
  • Pursue initiatives to improve ALSE equipment in an economical fashion;
  • Perform general administrative duties related to the Support Centre operation;
  • Carry out dinghy drill, emergency egress, and other required training to DND and Top Aces personnel;
  • Develop and perform training on equipment inspections to other Top Aces technicians.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent;
  • Previous Aircraft Life Support Equipment experience or mechanical background is an asset;
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to perform all work in support of our Corporate Values of Safety, Teamwork, Focus, Innovation and Integrity

  • Position requires Level II Clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
